Jumlah Rekening Bank Digital Tanah Air Melambung 8.238 Persen

JAKARTA — The digital bank business is booming, efforts to increase customer savings seem to be reaping results.

The number of people’s savings in digital banking has soared, this can be seen from the soaring number of customer accounts.

Based on data from the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), the number of digital bank accounts in May 2022 increased by 8,238.4 percent yoy to reach 38.2 million accounts.

LPS Chief Executive Lana Soelistianingsih said that most digital bank accounts came from tiering deposits with a nominal value of less than IDR 1 million, which accounted for 98 percent of total digital bank deposits.

“The rapid growth in the number of accounts at digital banks is an indication that the increase in accounts is driven more by retail customers who have a high desire to try new forms of platforms,” ​​Lana said to Kontan.co.id, Friday (12/02/2020). 8/2022).

Moreover, Lana continued, digital banking is also aggressively providing attractive promos to attract more new customers. Then the service features are carried out online to make it easier for customers to carry out banking activities.

When viewed from the type of savings, the increase in savings was mainly driven by savings. At the end of 2020, the portion of savings accounted for only 7 percent, while time deposits and current accounts accounted for 75 percent and 18%, respectively.

However, as of June 2022, the portion of digital bank savings increased to 40% of total digital bank deposits. Meanwhile, the portion of time deposits and current accounts was 47% and 13%, respectively.

According to Lana, the emergence of this digital bank is actually a phenomenon that occurs globally following the trend of rapid technological development. In Indonesia itself, the development of digital banks gained additional momentum when the Covid-19 pandemic hit Indonesia.

“Digital banks also have advantages in processing transactions and creating accounts that can be done online, so that they get a big response from the public, especially residents under 40 years old,” explained Lana.

In addition, several digital banks have very aggressive marketing strategies by providing various kinds of promotions and making it easier to create accounts. This is estimated to be the main factor in the increasing number of account openings at digital banks.

A number of digital banks have also received blessings by increasing customer deposits or Third Party Funds (DPK). Allo Bank, for example, managed to collect deposits of Rp 3.18 trillion in June 2022, an increase of 71.89% yoy.

Allo Bank President Director Indra Utoyo said Allo Bank’s DPK increased significantly, especially from deposits. This is inseparable from the pricing policy which is responded positively by the public.

“Although we are aware that this certainly has a correlation with the costs that are not cheap,” said Indra.

With this realization, Allo Bank is aiming for a total DPK of around Rp 7.5 trillion this year. He revealed that time deposits still occupy the largest portion besides AlloPrime as a superior savings product.

Not to be outdone, the number of Bank Jago customers has reached more than 3 million in June 2022. This number has grown by more than 100% in just six months starting from the end of December 2021, which only recorded 1.4 million customers.

“We interpret this growth as an appreciation of our efforts in presenting banking applications that answer customer needs,” said Bank Jago President Director Kharim Siregar.

The increase in the number of customers has encouraged the growth of Bank Jago’s third party funds. As of June 2022, the total deposits collected by this bank reached Rp 6.1 trillion, a 253% yoy increase.

More specifically, low-cost funds (CASA) increased 643% yoy to Rp 3.87 trillion. Meanwhile, deposits grew by 85% to Rp2.23 trillion. This has made the cost of funds structure better as reflected in the ratio of CASA to total TPF reaching 63%. (Ferrika Sari/Herlina Kartika Dewi)
